AIM OF THE PROJECT:
Self Climbing Kokoon® is a modular, self-climbing system, designed with the goal to support construction crews operating in elevated building sites.
SCK , is a steel-mesh cocoon that hydraulically crawls up the sides of the building, while the workers erect the structure. SCK, not only provides a safety cage but creates also, a one-meter-wide, walkway enabling an easy access to the outer shell of the building.
The SCK system, speeds up construction activities and keeps the crane free for the most important operations, improving safety standards during the entire execution of the work and protecting the underlying site thanks to micro networks - holes steel sheets that prevents the objects from falling.

BY SCL:
Counselling for the validation of the structural design of the SCK Self Climbing Kokoon® manufactured for the construction of the One Manhattan West Tower, 70 floors, in New York (USA).
In collaboration with Despe’s designers, SCL carried the following activities:
- Development and definition of the structural project, from the performance and legislation standpoint.
- Management and supervision of the technical table involved in the analysis of the pressure parameters on the impacting wind on the SCK system.
- In order to validate Despe’s project, implementation and analysis of FEM models on the SCK system.
- Supervision and checks (resistance, instability, deformability) of the structural elements and construction details of the lifting system and the structure’s interface of the skyscraper.
