Barbara Orsatti

My professional cooperation with SCL started in 1999, one year after my graduation as Civil Engineer at Politecnico di Milano. Besides initial jobs on concrete structures, principally I’ve always been involved in projects regarding steel structures, developing more experience in the field of scaffoldings, steel pallet racking and shelving and automatic racking systems. In this area I play the role of project manager, with function of job coordinator both technical or economical. I also perform the check of installation on site and tests. Regarding the seismic issue, I follow the design of new constructions and I perform vulnerability analysis and design for improvement or adequacy of existing racks.
In the field of steel racks I also attend to the UNI working group developing Italian Technical Standards and I attend as Italian representative of CISI (Italian Manufacturers of industrial steel racks) at some European working groups by the ERF (European Racking Federation) writing Standards on these topics. From 2011 to 2014 I’ve been following the research about seismic behavior of racks “Seisracks 2” financed by the European Community, where SCL played the role of general coordinator as expert in seismic design.
I’m enrolled as IGQ inspector on the certification IGQ-UNI EN15512 for pallet racks design and CE marking of lighting poles according to EN40 Standard.
