PROJECT OVERVIEW :
The project involved a comprehensive upgrade of the fume extraction and dedusting systems serving the UHP–AOD furnace area.
The first phase (2018–2019) included the design and installation of a new secondary extraction hood, replacing the existing one, along with a new duct connecting it to the existing bag filter. The system was engineered with provisions for future expansion.
The second phase (2022–2023) focused on the implementation of a new primary fume extraction system, featuring:
- Duplication of the existing bag filter unit
- New primary extraction ductwork for high- and medium-temperature fumes, complete with dedicated steel support structures
- A pre-separation unit with two vertical cyclones and a dust collection hopper
- A quenching tower with an underlying dust chamber constructed in steel refractory-lined
This upgrade significantly enhanced environmental performance, operational reliability, and system scalability.
SCL SCOPE OF WORK :
- SCL was responsible for the detailed executive and construction design of all plant steel structures, as well as providing installation support during on-site assembly.
